My GTS 250 is on it's way to Asus to be repaired.  It's a piece and I'm broke, so I've had to resort to my old 8600 GT.  One problem:  That thing runs hot, and it likes to over heat.  The stock cooling just sucks.  solution?  Mount a bigass heatsink and fan on that sucker with stuff laying around the house--primarily plastic secuirty ties.



Luckily this beast fit in the case:



Best part is--it works.  Temperature while playing WoW dropped an average of 10 degrees C, and it's not overheating and stuttering anymore.

Moral of the story:  When in doubt, ghetto rig!

man i would never touch my computer... that was alienwares job... haven't had a problem with it for about a year and a half :)
